“Doula” — pronounced “doo-la” — is a Greek word meaning “woman servant or caregiver.” More recently, a doula refers to a trained professional who offers emotional, physical, and informational support to a woman and her partner before, during and after childbirth. A doula believes in “mothering the mother.”

My name is Nicky Joy (NJOY) and I am a Registered Nurse from Amsterdam based in Los Angeles, CA.
While the California Board of Registered Nursing is reviewing my Dutch nursing license, I have decided to start the process of becoming a certified postpartum doula through DONA international.
After working at the hospital with new mothers and their partners for two years, guiding them in this magical time in their life, I could not help myself but find another way to keep doing what I do.
I will guide and empower you and I will show you that you really do have superpowers. You did after all create life, right?"
