ABOUT ME

My name is Nicky Joy Cattell and I am a registered nurse from Amsterdam based in Los Angeles. 

As the California Board of Registered Nursing has to review if my Dutch nursing license equals a U.S. license, I have decided to attend the DONA approved Postpartum Doula training. After working as a R.N. with new mothers and their partners and guide them in this beautiful time in their life, I could not stay away for too long. I am very excited to work one on one with new families as a doula, in stead of a R.N., because I believe, as nurses, we do not get the time you deserve to support you in hospitals.

I believe that giving birth and the postpartum period are magical moments in life. I wish for all new parents to remember these moments with joy. Lots of new mothers and their partners feel like they should know how to do all these things they have never done before, which makes no sense if you really thing about it. I would be honored to help you during this beautiful time. I will guide and empower you and I will show you that you really do have superpowers. You did after all create life, right?

Credentials

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing: 4 year education;

- 30 week internship on the maternity ward at an Academic Hospital in Amsterdam;

- Specialization in labor & delivery, postpartum and neonatal care (34+ weeks), low-medium complexity;

- Almost 2 years (July 2017-April 2019) of work experience in this field;

- Completed postpartum doula training.
